Question by Awp: How do you determine the signs in Factoring with the foil method?
this is the problem

x^2 + 5x + 4 = 0

can someone explain how to determine the signs and when exactly to use th foil method?

Best answer:

Answer by remowlms
Look at the last term. If it is negative you know that one sign will be positive and one will be negative in the factors. If it is positive, then you have to look at the center term. If it is positive then you know that both the signs in the factors will be positive, and if it is negative you know that both signs will be negative in the factors.

Examples:

ax^2 + bx +c = 0 : (ax+c)(ax+c)=0
ax^2 – bx + c = 0 : (ax-c)(ax-c)=0
ax^2 + bx – c = 0 : (ax-c)(ax+c)=0

What do you think? Answer below!

If 2 million people owe you $ 1,000, what would be your guess?

Best answer:

Answer by Michelle
It depends on how good the debt is. It would range from zero up to 70%.

But they would not do it, because the amount of money for a single account / market sector would be far too risky, and they probably would not have enough money to be able to do it. Factoring companies do not not tend to have the odd billion hanging around looking bored.

Question by Kail .: How do you solve quadratic equations by factoring like this one?
2t^2 + 11t +5 = 0
but how do you get this part?
(2t +1)(t+5)
thank you.

Best answer:

Answer by dodgetruckguy75
(2t +1)(t+5) = 0. So 2t+1 =0 or t+5=0. Thus t=-1/2 or t=-5.

To get this, you have to look at all factors of 5 (1 and 5, since 5 is prime) and all factors of 2 (1 and 2, since 2 is prime). Next you have to see how you can multiply these factors together so that when you add the result you get 11. The only way to get 11 is to have 10+1, so 10 = 2*5 and 1=1*1

Question by bungalo: How to get rid of some bad debt?
I have an old apartment that things didnt go well due to a sex offender living next door so I had to move out. They say they have dirt on me too and I think if it went to court they would win due to money. but they have a $ 4000 in total charge on my credit due to some bull they rent I owe em was only 2 months at $ 600. so how do i get rid of this crap? do i just have to pay it? I cant afford it in only 19 and its really messing with my credit.

Best answer:

Answer by P J
You can allow them to take you to court and let a Judge decide if you had a valid reason to leave or not.

I suspect it will hamper you getting another nice apt. with this hanging over your head.

IF they have a valid case they can charge you more than the 2 months rent plus expenses of taking you to court to collect the money.

What do you think? Answer below!
